Avocado

In science we are exploring Living vs. Non-Living things. A seed is living. Let's see what happens to this avocado seed if we give it water, air, & light.
Almost every Kindergartner tried the avocado! Lots even discovered they love it! We're learning to say, "I don't like it YET." when we don't care for something. Did you know it can take 12 or more times of trying a food for your child to like it?

Souvenir Stories

Souvenir Stories
Visiting readers have been coming into our classroom and leaving a special "souvenir" about the book they read. The children can look through their special souvenir bags and recall the stories.
We'll use them in a variety of ways:
Sit with a partner. Choose a souvenir from your bag and retell that story.
Take a souvenir from your bag and write about why you liked that story.
During sharing we can tell the class about our favorite story souvenir.

This is Mrs. Reen's daughter, Abby, reading to the class:

During our "All K" morning meeting today two of Mrs. Underwood's
students taught us a fun new greeting.
This greeting helps us identify numbers 11-20. We'll be trying it out next week!

We are sorting by shape, color, size and more!
We are counting the items in our groups, writing numbers and comparing.
Which group has more? Which has less?

Here's a sort from very creative thinker. Can you guess?

Gingerbread Baby video

We made words come alive with the Gingerbread Baby story by Jan Brett. Children learned about the story elements of Character and Setting during our Gingerbread Lieteracy unit.
